Site Revamp

As you can see, I haven't updated this part of the site for a long time. Too be honest I haven't really had the time, or inspiration to write any more articles.

I started Revamping the site yesterday, with a new menu, and whole redesign. It is almost finished now! Just the Gallery to finish.

Firefox - Add-ons

I thought that I'd come back to the subject of firefox, and one its most useful features; Add-Ons. Add-ons are simple extensions which add new functionality and features to your browser. I use quite a few add-ons, but the most useful ones I use are:

  1. Mouse Gestures
    • This allows you execute common commands, like opening a new tab etc. by just using your mouse. You do this by holding down your right mouse button and dragging the mouse in a certain direction. e.g. drawing a line up opens a new tab, up then right will move to the next tab on the right. Try it...I don't know how I lived without it before! get it here!

  2. McAfee SiteAdvisor
    • McAfee Site Advisor is a great site, where they test thousands of pages on the web for things such as viruses, spam and links then displays the results for us all to see. The Site Advisor add-on displays a little bar in the bottom right hand side on the toolbar. This changes colour depending on how 'safe' the site is. Red for dangerous, green for safe, and grey for untested. You can then click the toolbar to take you to the McAfee site, and a more detailed analysis. get it here!

  3. IE Tab
    • This little add-on means you almost never have to use Internet Exploiter, sorry Explorer, again. The add-on lets you display any tab using IE, so that you can access MS own webpages through Firfox. get it here!

  4. Tab Mix Plus
    • Tab Mix Plus is a great add-on which allows you to customize your use of tabs very extensively. It offers many different features and options to make firefox work just the way you want. Also I use the Session Manager on here, instead of Firefox's own one, as I find this one has many more useful features.get it here!

The Engineered Plague

The Engineered Plague is the multi-game clan which I am in. It started out life in Guild Wars, a MMORPG, and has spread to other games. It has an online presence in Guild Wars, GunZ, Ultima Online and Counter Strike. It may not be top of the leader boards, or win all the competitions, but its full of great, fun loving and helpful people.

Click here to visit the GunZ section site.

About this site

Well, here goes my first blog entry! I thought I'd tell you a bit about the site first. I'm trying to create a useful and interesting site, with lots information that will be useful to everyone, so there is no main subject. Mainly it will just be things which I'm interested in. I hope to create a lot more pages, as off shoots of blog subjects. If there is anything you want to see on the site, or covered in the blog, email me or write it in the guestbook. Oh, one other thing, I will try to update the blog most days, but I probably won't manage that! Also I Just keep finding more and more subjects to write about, so don't be surprised if I Have more than one subject per day.

Xfire

As most people who know me will tell you, I'm quite an avid gamer. PC gamer, that is, i don't use naff consoles! I have been using this great program called Xfire for ages. It is an IM, friends tracker, server browser, and it even supports voice chat. It allows you to see what game any of your friends is playing, what server they are on, and allows you to chat to then without coming out of your game...a very useful app!

Firefox

For those of you who don't know what Firfox is...you should! But never mind, I'll tell you. Mozilla Firefox is a free cross-platform web browser, similar to IE, but better in so many ways. Firfox is faster, more secure and fully customizable. Many of the new features in IE7 have been directly copied from Firefox; things such as Tabs and Add-Ons. Firefox has been doing these for years, but microsoft has only just caught up. Well, not even close to catching up with firefox really...It's just too good. Don't just take my word for it, try it out. Firefox - Rediscover the web.

From TCJ Top Ten Site:

Imagine you had a choice of two cars - (both of them are free!)
We'll call them "The Fire Fox" and "The Internal Exploder"
The Fire Fox is fast, safe, easy to drive, great looking, and hardly ever breaks down.
The Internal Exploder is slow, unsafe, difficult to drive, ugly and is always breaking down.
How crazy would you be if - knowing all this - you chose the Internal Exploder!
Nobody in their right mind would drive an Exploder when they could be driving a Firefox!
So why are so many people using Internet Explorer when they could be using Firefox?
It's not because they are all insane! It's because they just don't know the difference - yet!
